Jun 14, 2015 · Rost's work depicts mostly New York and tri-state rural or country scenes. Your particular marked work is interesting as Ernest sued Fishel, Adler and Schwartz Co. in 1894. It is documented that they were allowing rejected images and claiming they were artist's proofs. Though Ernest prevailed at trial, he was never paid for damages of the prints sold.
