Eugene Ciceri is known for Riverine genre and landscape painting. Born at the end of Napoleon's reign, Eugène Ciceri spent his formative years in an extended family of painters. His father, Pierre Luc Charles Ciceri (1782-1868), painted grand decorative murals and stage sets, and served as the designer of official ceremonies following the Restoration of Louis XVIII in 1814.

Biography. The son and pupil of the illustrator and décorateur Pierre-Luc-Charles Ciceri and nephew of the painter Eugène Isabey, Eugène Ciceri began his career as a designer of mural paintings, as well as theatre and stage sets. He was mainly active as a landscape painter, however, and in this field was influenced by the work of his uncle and teacher, Eugène Isabey.
