In 1924 with Mainie Jellett, Hone exhibited at the Dublin Painters Gallery. In 1933 she began to work in stained glass, joining An Tur Gloine and getting her first commission for Ardcarne near Boyle in 1934. She worked with An Tur Gloine until it closed in 1944.

Evie Hone was born on 22 nd April 1894 in Clonskeagh, Dublin. Her father was a director of the Bank of Ireland. At age 11 she contracted Polio which left her with a severe disability for the rest of her life. Determined to study art, despite this, she began attending classes in London under Byam Shaw.

Evie Hone along with Mainie Jellett were the first artists of introduce the then new art style, Cubism, to Ireland. This style of square (cube) stained glass can be seen in her work. She is most famous for her window in Eton College Chapel, England. She died at Rathfarnham, Dublin on 13 th March 1955.
