Fredrick Kling was born on December 12, 1926, in Bowbells, ND, the son of Martin and Bertha (Herman) Kling. He grew up and attended school in Donnybrook, ND, graduating in 1945. Fred worked for the SOO Line Railroad from 1944-1967 while living in Donnybrook. Fred was united in marriage to Blanche A. Payne on June 15, 1952, in Mott, ND.
