Fred Thomas Larson (1868 - 1944) Chicago artist Fred Larson was trained as a commercial lithographer. He was essentially self-taught and became an adept painter, water colorist, and wood engraver by working with a like-minded group of friends in the group known as the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts. He taught block printing to the young Gustave Baumann at the P&C.

Fred T Larson (1868-1944) was one of the founding members of the Palette & Chisel Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago. Larson put up his personal property to help secure the mortgage for the Dearborn Street property for the Palette & Chisel, and he exhibited in many of the Palette & Chisel's exhibitions over the years and helped to arrange the infamous "operas."
