Georges Gardet was born in Paris on 10/11/1863 and died in 1939. He is considered one of the greatest of the later period of the French school of Animalier sculptors. The son of sculptor Joseph Gardet, he was a pupil at the Ecole des Beaux Arts under Aime`and Emanuel Fremiet. Gardet first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes in 1883.
