Born in 1983, in Baishan, Jilin Province, Geng Xue attended the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, graduating in 2007. In 2013 she studied video production at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design in Germany, and in 2014 she was awarded an MFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, where renowned artist Xu Bing was her mentor.
