Glen Cooper Henshaw was born in Windfall, Indiana in 1884. He later moved to the East Coast, living in Baltimore, Maryland and New York City following study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he was influenced by impressionism. He exhibited at the Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, the Art Institute at Chicago, and the Addison Gallery of American Art of the Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts.

Glen Cooper Henshaw arrived in Brown County in 1941. He was at the end of a long career that began in Windfall, Indiana and took him to Paris, London, New York, and Baltimore. While he was born in Indiana, he is best known for his dazzling New York scenes. He was very influenced by the mystics and a dreamlike quality is reflected in his work, particularly his compelling figure studies.

Glenn (Glen) Cooper Henshaw, a descendant of Francis Scott Key, was born under the name Hinshaw on August 8, 1880, in Windfall, Indiana. His mother died when he was an infant and he and his sister, Effie, went to live with two aunts in nearby Mechanicsburg. They returned to Windfall after their father remarried where Henshaw spent a large portion of his childhood sketching.
