Hale Woodruff, in full Hale Aspacio Woodruff, (born August 26, 1900, Cairo, Illinois, U.S.—died September 6, 1980, New York, New York), American painter, draftsman, printer, and educator who is probably best known for his murals, especially the Amistad mutiny murals (1939) at the Savery Library at Talladega College in Alabama.

Born in Cairo, Illinois, Woodruff grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. In the early 1920 s, he studied at the John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, where he lived for a number of years. After graduating from Nashville's Pearl High School, where he had been the cartoonist for the school newspaper, Woodruff studied at the Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana.
