Hamish Rosie was born in the Orkney Isles in 1940. At ten months old, he became profoundly deaf due to meningitis. In 1961, Hamish graduated at Kingston School of Art (now Kingston University) as an exhibition and graphic designer. Watercolour painting was an integral part of the course.
