Artists who have been supported by an organizational grant from Harpo in the past are eligible to apply for a direct grant. Criteria Applications are evaluated on the basis of the quality of the artist’s work, the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry, and its relationship to the foundation’s priority to provide support to visual artists who are under-recognized by the field.

Awards are made of up to $10,000. The number of awards is determined each year by the annual granting budget. Project grant funds must be used for costs in direct support of new work by the proposed artist, including artist honorarium. All projects funded during the 2020 funding cycle should be completed by September 2021.
