The statue is made of steel strips and is designed to make a “singing” noise as the wind blows through her. Her facial features are made from steel wire. The statue was unveiled in August 1995. The Coppard grandsons visit Long Wittenham 2005 . In March 2005 a mutual friend and poet called Maura Dooley who I had briefly mentioned the mystery to in the 1990s put me in contact with Tim and Hattie Coppard which resulted in the grandsons of A.E.Coppard visiting Long Wittenham with me on July 26th that year.
