Description: Hendricks A. Hallett (Massachusetts, 1847-1921) oil on canvas farm landscape painting, signed lower left "H A Hallet" and dated 1878. Gold and gesso frame measures 19-5/8 in height with width of 27-1/2", stretcher measures 12" in height with width of 20". In overall good condition, piece has been lined and conserved.

Hendricks Hallett is primarily known as a marine painter and found plenty to inspire him around Boston Harbor, as well as along the North Shore of Massachusetts up to Marblehead, and in Maine at Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island. He was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and despite showing an interest in art at an early age, his father persuaded him to pursue a career in business.
