National Academy artist, Henry Rittenberg was born in Latvia and later immigrated to the United States. From 1906 - 1918 he lived and worked in Philadelphia, then moved to New York. A member of the National Academy, the Salmagundi Club, and he American Artists Professional League, he studied with William Merritt Chase at Shinnecock.
