Arthur Hansel, originally Hensel, built guitars, violins and other instruments in the west end of Toronto from the 1930s into 1952. For some years he was contracted to build for R S Williams Co. Arthur Hensel immigrated to Canada from Germany in the early 1930’s and by 1936 was listed in the Toronto Telephone directory as ‘Arthur Hansel’.

The guitar was made in the thirties by the luthier Arthur Hensel for the company R.S. Williams. The guitar is playable, has a beautiful vintage tone due to the solid woods and Rio fingerboard.

R.S. Williams and Sons Parlor Guitar. Bought this from a guy on Gbase who was less than honest and ghosted me after purchasing and didn't get much help from GBase in the aftermath. Guitar itself is in fantastic condition and sounds amazing I just don't like how the action changes so much from the 1st position to the 12th fret. See pictures.

Apr 26, 2006 · Hensel guitars are plentiful around here. I have one and three of my friends have them. There's another in the auction tomorrow and if the price is right I'll have a spare. As with all Canadians it's difficult to get information on Arthur Hensel. All the Artist Hensel guitars here have the gold R. S. Williams label inside.

Nov 27, 2007 · From what I have gathered on the net Arthur Hensel was a small time builder in Toronto Canada during the 30's and 40's. His guitars were made from all solid woods, (Adironack tops, brazilian boards and bridges, mahogany sides and backs). He is willing to part with his for $150.00. It needs a neck reset to make it playable.
