The 1960s was the busiest period for the movement while the art became a dynamic in the rising consciousness of aboriginality. After 1960 many of the artists lived in Alice Springs town camps, while their wives and children lived at Hermannsburg. One of the artists became a major leader of the land rights movement in the 1970s.
