Al "Blood" Black is one of the most elusive Highwaymen artists: almost no biographical data is publicly available about him, including his date and place of birth. Harold Newton and Alfred Hair were the two leaders of this group of twenty-five men and one woman, mostly from Fort Pierce, Florida.
