    The community of Holman was saddened in May 2001 by the loss of one of its most prominent artists, Agnes Nanogak Goose. Agnes Nanogak Goose was a strong artistic presence at Holman and her work was a mainstay in the print collection. Since 1967, when her first prints were published, a total of 159 of her drawings have been translated into prints.

    Elsie is an Inuit artist from the western Arctic. She grew up on the land, living in tents and igloos. About 30 years ago, her family moved into the community of Ulukaktok, on the west coast of Victoria Island. Elsie's father, Victor Ekootak, was one of the founders of the now-famous Holman Co-op and print-shop.
