The tailpiece is a clamshell with the Ibanez logo that also resembles 1970’s Gibson tailpieces. This also has a full size 20 hole tone ring which is a big deal. This banjo has a lot of volume, tone and projection. This is all original and absolutely beautiful.

the Ibanez artist was the banjo to have in the uk in the 70s if you couldn't afford a Gibson, i think they went for about 350 pounds in those day's wich was a lot of money back then, a friend of mine had one i was so envious. but i think the banjos you can get now day's like Deering are much better made and sound a lot better, but they were very good banjo for the time.

Ibanez was one of the first Japanese companies to produce good American-style banjos in Japan, and was one of the first to abandon the market when banjo sales went dead in the early 80's. Scott worked for them, and I did a couple of prototypes for them, but as an independent designer. I was never an employee of the company.
