Jan 28, 2020 · The Isle Royale Artist-in-Residence program began in 1991. Artists from all over the country have joined the long-established tradition of experiencing parks through art. One year from completion of a residency, each artist provides a donation to the park capturing their Isle Royale experience. This work-in-progress gallery celebrates these artists and their work.

Apr 10, 2020 · The Artist-in-Residence program is based in the former summer cottage of the Dassler family from Leavenworth, Kansas (cir. 1905). It has housed over 100 artists since 1992. The cabin, located in Tobin Harbor, is two miles by canoe or trail from Rock Harbor. A small guest house at the site serves as a second quarters, studio, or storage facility.

About the Artist* Lee Dassler was an Isle Royale Artist-in-Residence from June 14th to June 29th, 1996. She was born in St.Louis, but now lives in Otisfield, Maine, where she is executive director of a historic vernacular garden.
