Stephen James Govier, was born at Hoxne, Suffolk in 1955, only son of the two children of James Henry Govier [q.v.], an art master, and his wife, Freda Muriel née Tye, who married at Hoxne in 1950. Probably taught art by his father but studied art at Lowestoft and Liverpool Art Schools.
