James Lourie. I have lived and worked on the West Coast for the past 40 years. Raised near New York City, at 15, I visited an art history class at Columbia University. I was totally enthralled by the color vibrations of the Post-Impressionist slide show. At 17, I begged my father to let me study art in Spain, and in the summer of 1969 I began my journey into the world of art.

James Lourie began his art training in 1969 when he studied sculpture at the University of Valencia, Spain. In 1979 while attending Columbia University in New York City, he attended drawing class at the Art Students League. In 1981 Lourie lived in Paris, where he continued his art study.

An example of Authenticity (Image above) The other day, while looking at classical Greek sculpture at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, I came across a 1.5 foot tall female torso from the Erecthion Friezes. There were about 20 fragmented figures in a row, but this particular torso spoke louder.
