James Neal (18 January 1918 - 12 October 2011) was an English artist and teacher. Born in Islington, North London, Neal was accepted at St Martin's School of Art in 1932, aged 14. During this time he was taught by Leon Underwood, who also taught Henry Moore.

James Neal (1918 – 2011) was the elder of two boys, who from early childhood showed a talent for art, singing and acting, this last being encouraged by his aunt Elsie, one of the dancing Tiller Girls. His singing took him to Broadcasting House in the early 1930s to sing Danny Boy in an experimental, first televised broadcast in London.
