This quilt, made in 1992, is a key piece in a collection of work made over 10 years by West Australian textile artist, Jane Whiteley. Born in suburban Bromley, outside London in 1958, Whiteley experienced some of the domestic practices of post-war Britain that included mending, patching and darning - and prolonging the life of sheets by cutting them and turning their sides to the middle.
