With the closure of the Helen Maxwell Gallery in 2009, Canberra largely lost sight of Janenne Eaton's work, an artist who had been a regular in the Canberra art scene. In the 1980s she taught at the Canberra School of Art for more than a decade and then went on to teach at the Victorian College of the Arts for another couple of decades.

b. 1950 Janenne Eaton (b.1950) lectured in painting at the Canberra School of Art from 1980 to 1991, and became well known for drawings depicting the bleaker aspects of Canberra's urban enviroment. A former student of Professor Mulvaney's, she produced this portrait for the collection of papers published to mark his retirement in 1985.
