Nov 01, 2016 · During this time, the artist began his famed “Mappa” series (1971–1994), for which he commissioned over 150 embroideries of world maps that included flags from each country represented. Taken together, these textiles document the changing political landscape, as borders between nations shifted from year to year.

Artist statement: Jean is a textile artist, living in Dalgety Bay where she works from her dining room and small studio in her garden. A lot of Jean's work is taken from photographs she and her husband have taken over their travels. After printing onto material her pieces are further embellished with stitch.
