Approximately 7 1/2 x 17 1/2 feet x 3/4 inches. Comprised of 29 individual panels assembled as one large piece, Jedediah Caesar’s Dry Stock is a ‘painting’ that might best be described as a sculpture. Artist’s Statement I am interested in following the potential a given material contains until it is fixed into an object, then engaging with the object to undo this fixed state. My goal is to deconstruct heroic notions of authorship that underlay objects’ iconic status, and to recognize sculptures as the result of an accumulation of resources and negotiations, which intersect at the point of production.
