Artist Statement "From the earth" is the theme in all of my work, as if each welded flower or blade of grass might have sprouted from a rhizome, seed or cutting. A nodding flower.

The flowers and grasses welded to metal plates can be displayed indoors as well as outdoors. After years of buying 'forced' bulb pots I created a series of flower pot arrangements that evoke the look of many plants growing in the same pot.

I am devoting most of my energy in this direction. Through commissions the customers are able to live with the metal artwork they design. In some cases I am invited to their home to understand their environment and together we create the work.

Visitors and buyers commented that my early reed grasses reminded them of cattails. During a visit to Ambles (Minneapolis near Franklin & Cedar Ave) I found some large rusted turnbuckles that might just be the candidate needed to complete a cattail piece.
