John Alfred WHEELER. 1821 – 1903. Wheeler was born at Andoversford, near Cheltenham. He was the son of John Wheeler and father of James Thomas Wheeler and Alfred Wheeler. He was not interested in art at first but enlisted in the 2 nd Queens Corps which gave him plenty of experience and a knowledge of horses that was to be very useful in his artistic career.

Alfred Wheeler. (British, 1851-1932) Wheeler was born near Bath in Somerset to John Alfred Wheeler (1821-1877), who retired early from the army to pursue a successful painting career. Wheeler is thought to have studied under his father and to have worked closely with him. He married Catherine Muspratt in 1874 and moved next door to his father at Raglan Villas, Bath.
