John Betton Biography. My interest in art and art history began aged about 11. I am part taught but mainly self taught. After A Level art and foundation courses at Newcastle Under Lyme college of art and private tuition from local artists Bernard Culshaw and Alston Emery I worked as a ceramic artist in the pottery industry for a while.
