Welcome to John Harvey’s website of watercolour paintings. John has been a Tyneside based artist for over fifty years and has been inspired by subjects in and around his home town of South Shields. People, ships, animals and beautiful scenery have all been worthy subjects in John’s eyes.

Over the past 40 years the main body of John's work has been based in South Shields. He has tried to capture all different ages of the town and specialises in detailed graphic representations of the town's buildings and environments.

In 2005 John was involved in a project with South Shields Libraries which celebrated the visit of the Tall Ships to the Tyne. The resulting exhibition produced much interest in his work. Over the years since, he has received many commissions from crew members who have sailed on these wonderful ships.
