José Alejandro Restrepo was born in June of 1959 in Paris, France. Originally studying medicine, in 1981 he shifted to the School of Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Bogotá. Restrepo has worked in video art since 1987 and since 1988 he has been a pioneer of this technique in Colombia.

Artist biography José Alejandro Restrepo began his medical studies in the 1980s before going on to study fine arts at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (1981-1982) and at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris (1982-1985).

Oct 06, 2020 · In 1992, artist José Alejandro Restrepo (Colombian, born 1959) produced Paso del Quindío I, an installation of 17 monitors showing a series of black-and-white images of a landscape and its vegetation from different perspectives. These images were recorded by the artist on the Paso del Quindío, a treacherous trail that cuts through the Andes.
