The artist Tatsuo Kawashima was born in 1939 in Kyoto, Japan. From 1950 until 1979 he acquired the skills of carving and printing woodblock prints at Uchida Arts, Kyoto. He worked as a carver making reproductions of ukiyo-e. But he became also familiar with printing. F rom 1980 on he creates his own woodblock prints.
