Kelvin Thompson grew up surrounded by many artists, including Garry Meeches and Isaac Bignel. He first began to work in the style of the Northwest Coast in 1978 carving with Barry Wilson, Derek Wilson and Henry Robertson, all well-known artists from the Haisla Nation, of which Thompson was adopted into. Thompson now almost entirely focuses his career around jewellery-making.
