The Young Artist Circle initiative will provide vital support for the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program. The program is a two- to three-year paid residency for singers and pianists at a critical time in their careers as they transition from academic training to a professional career in opera. These artists receive extensive voice lessons, pianist coachings, and acting lessons throughout the season.

(Los Angeles) June 6, 2018 — Plácido Domingo, LA Opera's Eli and Edythe Broad General Director, announced today that he has chosen the performers who will join LA Opera's Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program in the 2018/19 season. The artists were chosen from 650 applicants, 200 live auditions and, ultimately, 28 final candidates.

Soprano Liv Redpath was a member of LA Opera's young artist program from 2016 through 2019. During the 2018/19 season, she starred as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and also performed the role of the Heavenly Voice in Don Carlo. Her appearances in the 2017/18 season included Amour in Orpheus and Eurydice, Frasquita in Carmen, Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto and the Messenger in Crossing.
