Lawrence Josset (British, 1910-1995) artist and engraver was born August 2, 1910. Lawrence Josset was in a sense a magnificent anachronism. Like his great 18th- and 19th-century predecessors, Valentine Green and Samuel Cousins for instance, he made his living as a reproductive mezzotint engraver. Lawrence Josset (1910 – 1995) Lawrence Jossett was born in Cambridgeshire. He acquired his early knowledge and skill as an engraver of banknotes. This skill and attention to detail has marked him as one of the finest intaglio artists of the 20th Century. One of his most important works was the engraved mezzotint plate of the Annigoni portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
