Lia Halloran lives and works in Los Angeles, CA, and currently serves as Assistant Professor of Art as the Director of the Painting and Drawing Department at Chapman University in Orange, CA, where she teaches painting as well as courses that explore the intersection of art and science.

Lia Halloran was born in Chicago, IL, and grew up surfing and skateboarding in the San Francisco Bay Area town of Pacifica, CA. She developed a love of science at her first job, during high school, at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. Halloran received her BFA from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1999 and her MFA in Painting in Printmaking from Yale University in 2001.
