In her new work 'I just don't think that way' (2020), Canberra-based artist Lisa Sammut draws upon universal symbols of the cosmos, in a moving installation that creates a magical exchange between all the moving elements. In her practice, Sammut explores the idea that movement and motion reflect the emotional experience of our inner universe.

Mar 07, 2017 · Sammut, a current MFA student at UNSW Art & Design, has held solo exhibitions at Bus Projects, Firstdraft and Archive_. In 2016 her work was commended in the Churchie National Emerging Art Prize, and was recently awarded a Sainsbury Sculpture Grant to study advanced woodcarving techniques at Geisler-Moroder Schnitz und Bildhauerschule in Tirol, Austria later in 2017.
