Lloyd Childers was born in New Jersey, and lived in Virginia and Ohio before coming to North Carolina in 1956. She earned college degrees from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Pursuing a lifelong interest in drawing and watercolors, and inspired by artists in her family, Lloyd Childers began painting seriously in the 1990s.
