Brady moved to St. Louis in 1970, where she began her work with watercolor, using it in studies for the sewn pictures she exhibited there. Developing an ever-greater interest in the medium, she began taking photographs upon which she would ultimately base her watercolors, particularly in 1975 when she moved to Baltimore where she painted full time using the watercolor medium.
