This site was first put on the Web in December, 1997, and since then many new people have been touched by Sr. Lucia's art. Born and raised in Tillamook, Oregon, after receiving her art education at the University of Oregon and the Minneapolis School of Art, Lucia completed a mural for the Tillamook Post Office in 1943 and The Building of the Morning Star, for the County Courthouse in 1950 and was selected as a finalist for the 1951 gold medal exhibition by the Architectural League of New York.

Lucia Wiley (1906-1998) Lucia Wiley was a nationally known fresco artist from Tillamook who created a number of murals in Minnesota and Illinois post offices, schools, and armories. In 1940, she won the contract to create a mural at the Tillamook Post Office (now Tillamook City Hall).

Lucia Wiley was born and raised in Tillamook, Oregon, and then attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, earning her BA degree in 1928. In 1932, she received her MFA degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene, where she focused on researching and practicing the true art of fresco painting.

Sister Lucia Wiley (1906–1998) was a noted WPA (Works Progress Administration) muralist and painter born and raised in Tillamook, Oregon. Lucia Wiley was the oldest of six children and always found herself interested in art, even at a young age. In 1923 Wiley stated “He who has an art has every where a part,” in her high school yearbook.
