Marguerite Kirmse was a British artist who emigrated to the United States. She specialized in drawings and latterly etchings of dogs. In 1921 she started producing etchings of dogs, for which she became well-known. She published Dogs (1930) and Dogs in the Field (1935) and produced many other works as book illustrations and commissions.

Marguerite Kirmse. (American, 1885 -1954 ) Marguerite Kirmse was a versatile and dedicated artist, and although her reputation is deservedly based on her many etchings, she also worked in pencil, pastel, oil and executed a series of bronzes which have become increasingly rare. Born in Bournemouth, England in 1885, Kirmse trained as a harpist and graduated from The Royal Academy of Music.

Marguerite Kirmse was born in Bournemouth, England, on 14 December 1885. She studied with Frank Calderon at the Calderon School of Animal Art while also studying the harp in London, England; she spent much of her free time sketching animals at the London Zoo.
