Jan 18, 2012 · Anyway, I have played a lot of Marshalls and have another jcm 800 2204 model (1983) 100w head and I can say that my artiste is the best marshall I have ever played, It has the best clean sound with plenty of bass, not dull or muddy and can hear individual strings with a nice treble (not to bright like my jcm800(thinking of changing the tone cap)) and high head room.

Marshall Artiste Lead Bass Organ. A very affable local gentleman wanted to put his old Marshall combo up for sale, but the power cord was hanging off and it needed a good checking over and service. Offered for sale is this very nice Marshall Artiste 50 watt valve/tube combo (Model 2040) dating from the early to mid seventies. This has the more sought-after hand-wired point-to-point board: it’s a relatively simple job to convert this to a Plexi-style circuit. As a result, these rare amps are getting even rarer.
