About the Artist. Marvin Toddy was born in northeastern Arizona in 1954, the son of renowned Navajo artist Jimmy Toddy. Sr. (Beatien Yazz). Educated at Winslow High School, he works in oil, watercolor and pencil, depicting Navajo people and their everyday lives in a representational style.

The oldest son of famed Navajo artist Beatien Yazz, Irving Toddy attended Utah State University where he studied painting and illustration. He and several other Navajo painters became known as the "Gallup Realists." Because his work is so realistic, it is greatly different from traditional Navajo painting.

Calvin Toddy is a son of Beatien Yazz (Jimmy Toddy). He lives on the Navajo Reservation in Chinle, Arizona. He is a silversmith as well as a painter and works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, silver and gemstone. He has been a constant award winner at the Gallup Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial since 1985. He was selected as the poster artist for that organization for the year 1995.
