Her family moved to Gwithian in the late ’40s when Mary was just two weeks old, so her father could start his manufacturing business. “My brothers and I had the most amazing childhood. We lived close to Gwithian beach and from the outset I was fascinated by boats and all things sea related.

Mary ALLEN Born in Devon, Mary Allen has lived in Cornwall from a very young age. The coastal waters around Gwithian and St Ives were a formative influence on her but it was only after retirement that she had the opportunity to devote more time to her painting. Her first solo exhibition was held in 2007.
