Mary Young Hunter or Young-Hunter (1872 – 1947) was a New Zealand painter. Hunter was born in Napier and married John Young-Hunter. She exhibited with the Royal Academy from 1900. Her works Joy and the Labourer, Olivia, and Where Shall Wisdom be Found? were included in the book Women Painters of the World. Hunter died in Monterey.Born: 1872, Napier

Painter and miniaturist, first wife of the artist John Young Hunter. After marrying him she travelled extensively on the continent. She is depicted in her husband’s Chantrey Bequest picture My Lady’s Garden, held by the Tate Gallery. Lived for some years in Wickhambrook, Suffolk.
