matthew_sievers_fine_art. Monastery Beach - the last time I painted this scene was in my dads studio when I was 12. It was a study from a Rief Erickson pastel, where I wanted to recreate some of the edges you find in pastels and work them into an oil. It’s very fulfilling to now paint the same scene plein air.
