Jun 13, 2019 · Windows Media Player Unknown Album Unknown Artist. I've been ripping CD's to files lately. Most of the CD's show the album, artist, genre, year on Windows Media Player when the disc goes into the drive. About 1 in 20 would show Unknown album, artist, etc. Not a big problem. But Yesterday the new CD's I want to rip all show the info as Unknown - 100% of them.

Jun 15, 2012 · The basic problem here is that iTunes use ID3v2.4 tags, Windows (and WMP) uses ID3v2.3 tags and can't read ID3v2.4. So if you update the tags with iTunes and then add those tracks to WMP they're going to show up as "Unknown Artist". This is always going to cause problems if you try to use both iTunes and WMP libraries at the same time.

Mar 20, 2010 · Windows Media Player won't change "Unknown Artist". When Windows Media Player can't read a song's meta data correctly, it lists it under "Unknown Artist." When I right click the generic album picture and select "Find album info," a new window appears where I can enter the artist's correct name. However, changing the name from Unknown Artist to the correct name accomplishes nothing.

Jun 19, 2020 · In very many cases display shows “Unknown Artist/Unknown Album” when playing. (some others are working) The titel entry is there, but neither under “Album” nor “Artist” it is listed. So you can’t select that Album or Artist at all. Directory can by seen and played with WMP without problems.

Nov 17, 2020 · It is a lot easier to find your favorite song if it contains the correct media information than if its media information reads "Track 2, Unknown Album, Unknown Artist," along with about 400 other songs in your library. It may be tedious, but supplying your media library with correct information will make things much more enjoyable in the long run.
