Micheál de Búrca was inspired by nature and the West of Ireland. This is reflected in his works, most of which were created in the West, often Achill Island, Mayo and Connemara, Galway. However he also painted scenes around the country, from Dublin to Galway and many points in between.

Apr 30, 2007 · Micheál de Burca was born in Castlebar, Co. Mayo and studied at the Metropolitan School of Art, Dublin. He regularly exhibited with the RHA where landscapes dominated his subject matter. In 1940 he was appointed Art Inspector for the Department of Education and in 1942, acting Director of the National College of Art and Design.
