Brittain, Miller (1912-1968) A trained artist, Brittain enlisted in the RCAF in 1942. He served as a bomb aimer in 78 Squadron, Bomber Command, completing 37 operational sorties in Halifaxes. Awarded the DFC, from 1945 to 1946 he served as an official war artist.

Miller Brittain is widely regarded as one of Canada's greatest artists. He was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, in 1912. His first instruction in art began at the age of eleven with Miss E.R. Holt. In 1926 he entered the Saint John Vocational School as an art student.
